Scott's Wooden Volume and Selector Knobs

(page 2)
(Construction continued)

I wanted to have a mark to indicate the knob's position when in use, so I used a 1/16" drill bit for a small hole.

I used 120 grit sand paper, to shape the knobs, and then I worked my way down to 600 grit paper for a fine polish.

Conclusion

I used a bit of colored furnisher wax on terrycloth to color and polish the finish. While the knobs are esthetically pleasing, they also work very well to eliminate static transfer to my preamp.

Bill Very nice. I have been doing custom wood mods for some time on the Jolida products as can be seen in the photo below or at www.responseaudio.com (Cherry face plate, metal knobs on this one).

The reason for originally designing the wood knobs was for the same reason, static. With the proper combination of woods, face plates and knobs can be all that's needed to transform a product cosmetically.

Sincerely,

Bill Baker
