bought two whisper fans at radio shack along with two switches and a plastic box to mount the switches.
|

I constructed a small circuit box to include two switches which controlled the fans. I made sure the switches were equipped with a small L E D light to prevent the fans from running when the components were off. This significantly reduced the heat in the cabinet and prolongs the life of the components.

Choose the component that generates the greatest amount of heat, usually the Amp. Since hot air rises, the upper exhaust fan should be mounted to blow out and the lower fan blow to in. Place the switch box in a area that can be seen from a distance. The illuminated switches will serve as a reminder to turn off the fans when the components are off.

Turn on the fans whenever the components are on. Do not plug the fans in the back of a component with AC outlet as this may result in sound degredation.

My audio and video system remains cool and I don't have to worry about my equipment surcoming to a malfunction due to poor ventilation.

I used velcro to mount the switch box and spade connectors for quick removal.
