Standard house hold |
| |
| Most budget equipment (and some mid fi too) come with the standard mains cable made out of thin multi stranded "litz" wire. Usually with no ground wire.
Buy some solid core (three wire) mains cable and replace the existing cord with this one. Get some heavy duty mains plugs too. When buying the solid core cable, get the heaviest one that can fit in your new plugs. Make sure you fit the ground wire too, at least at the wall side, this will help eliminate some RF. |
| |
| Danger! When ever dealing with mains and AC you should take extra precaution and proceed only if you know what you are doing. If you are not sure, get an electrician to help you out. |
| |
| Plug and play. |
| |
| Power cords do play a difference, not only on amps but other equipment too. If you don't believe it or can't afford to try out some of those esoteric power cords, try this affordable alternative.
Replacing the thin multi stranded "litz" mains wire with its solid core alternative, produces greater dynamics and slam. The sound is more alive and less congested. |
| |
| Want even better sound? Then instead of using house hold solid core, construct some out of Kimber Kable 4TC or 8TC speaker cables! These cables are great for speakers but do an equally great job as power cords. You get greater dynamics and resolution but also refinement and clarity. |

Absolutely
correct! there's not too many who knows about the big
losses in stranded wires, that goes for current as well
as sound. |
