Just tried it,and was amazed i tried this on a Kenwood,a Sansui and Sony Amplifiers

Construction
Replacing the wire in amplifiers and speakers can make a huge difference. I recently tried this on 3 seperate amplifiers in my home, and was amazed everytime! Pop the cover off of your amlifier, and find the wires leading from the transformer to the rectifier/filtering stage(s) you may notice that they are kinda smallish wires..(all of the wires found in all 3 of my cases were smaller thean 18gauge!) So,I replaced them with some heavier copper 14 gauge wire.. this helped alot! I also took the cover off of the bottom of the board and looked at the traces on the board, they were also kinda small,so i scraped the green coating off and tinned the traces with silver solder. I also replaced the wire leading to the speaker terminals, and tinned the traces along that path also. I used some smaller wire (18gauge?) to jump from the filter capacitors to the output transistors, and i left the existing trace on the circuit board there (I also tinned this a bit with solder) another tip, make sure that all the ground path(s) are non restrictive!! replace wire if needed, and make sure that everything grounds to one point! (this will help cut noise) I also replaced the wire in two of the three sets of speakers (i used 16awg Zipcord, and still noticed a big improvement!),run a seperate set of + and - for each speaker! don't share grounds,or anything like that also if your crossovers are on PCB's,you might also want to scrape the green stuff off of those and tin them with some silver solder

Setup
it took me about 2 hours per amplifier, but i was taking my time, and usually stopped to get a snack,or something. it is pretty easy,if you know your way around a circuit, and you are handy with a soldering iron.

Use

Performance
There was more punch in the low end,it didn't seem so "soggy".Imaging seemed to be improved, and the clarity was MUCH better The amplifiers seem to have much more control over the speaker cones. The Kenwood amplifier that i tried this on,was simply Wonderful afterwards. i cant even explain the improvment it made on this amplifier. I also did this on My older Sansui amplifier, and was amazed! it really helps to bring out the music, everything was free flowing, and you can really hear the details in the music . (I heard things in FleetwoodMac that i had never heard before) I swear by this simple modification! Email me if you have any questions! nothing40@hotmail.com
