Source Brand
Philippe Heitz of Triode et Cie, Paris, France

Construction
Take an old 5,25 inch floppy disk (the real floppy floppy) and take out the magnetic disk. Now cut this diskk exactly to the size of a CD.

Setup
Open your CD tray and insert your CD and the floppy on top.

Use
Play CD and be amazed.

Performance
This oh so simple tweak acts mostly as a laser deflector enhancing the mirror effect of the CD so the error correction of the player does not have to work as much. The disk works also as an anti-static. Sound improves towrds more analogue qualities.

Other
Combining the floppy with some Johnson Pledge sprayed on the recorded side (!) of the CD works even better

Geno I tried this tweak last night and notice an impressive improvement in the sound of my CD's, especially considering the cost. In fact I would not have believed without hearing it myself. The only problem (mistake) was when I showed the magnetic disk to my wife and she listened to how much different it made in the sound; she began questioning why I spent so much on other "tweaks".

Karen Greg - I got 2 of these computer disk and gave one to a friend. It works big time. The music is much more defined, the musical instruments are separated from each other more, much more detail without any harshness. My friend found the same results. These old disc are sometimes hard to find. Thanks for letting us know about this tweak.

Seppo Might work on some players, but I suggest caution with this tweak. First of all, this would certainly work only as a mirror effect enchantment. The weight of the floppy disk is next to nothing, so there´s no vibration dampening etc. effects from this. And also, because of that weightlesness and flexibility of the disk, it might cause more troubles than any real advantage. On my player, the flapping sound of the fastly rotating disk made it impossible to even hear the actual music at quiet levels! Offered good laughs, if nothing else..well, to the next then...

Ali Fuat After reading this tweak I couldn't wait to try at home but tried this tweak with a laptop CD Rom driver, a PC CD Rom Driver and a SONY CD man. WOW this tweak works really fine (for lap top and CD man I taped the mat to the CD). I could not be able to define the improvement even after changing to more expensive speaker cables and interconnects but this! The definiton and bass performance immedaiately increased. Thanks for the great idea.
