Try and purchase a copper cleaning solution like brasso etc,a simple cleaning cloth or a small towel.

It is a well known fact that copper looses its conductivity when exposed to oxygen, the plugs, fuses, valve pins, and a few other items on your hi-fi will undergo this process.By cleaning them up with the cloth and fluid this increases contact surface and conductivity.

The difference can be heard in the bass which is faster and detail retreival is increased. Also cd draws seem to react quicker.

I would recomend this tweek for phono connectors as a contact cleaner is less messy, also if you attempt to clean valve pins a good idea is to put the valve face forward on a large blob of blue tack as valves dont like being moved or shaken slightly.

is absolutely the best metal cleaner you're going to
find. Get it at Ace Hardware. The Paste works good on AC
prongs and the liquid works good on chassis and such. |
