Levitron |

| I got this off of a tweak site also and it works. Go to home Depot and purchase levitron plugs part #5266c or #5266ca which is an angled version. Companies use these on there expensive aftermarket cords. I cut off the plug on my cd player and Luxman preamp and replaced with the Levitron 5266ca--cant find 5266c anymore where I live. Much better plugs. Be sure to get the wires in the new plug properly. IT IS IMPERATIVE TO PURCHASE ONLY THIS PART # PLUG AND NO OTHER--WHY, I DONT KNOW BUT I JUST FOLLOWED THE RULES OUTLINED BY ANOTHER TWEAKER |

| Just another low cost enhancement to your system that works. I plan on doing it to my amp soon if I can find the 5266c model. |

Leviton
products should not be recommended since many
audiophiles noticed their quickly degrading performance.
The bronze used in their parts is apparently responsible
for this. Hubbell, Eagle, Pass & Seymour, Marinco
are much better products. |

I
used the Leviton 5266C plug on my Rotel CD player. The
treble was very bright and the bass was distorted. It
sounded worse than before I bought the Leviton. I then
switched to Hubbell Hospital Grade plug. Wow! The
difference was day and night: more detail, better vocal
and instrument separation and tighter bass. |

If
you shop around, you can get Marinco hospital grade AC
plugs for under $10. These are very similar to WattGate
plugs. |

The
Marinco and Wattgate plugs are excellent, but I find
that the Hubbell 8215 is easier to work with for this
kind of application. The Hubbell takes small-gauge
conductors easily and has decent strain relief for small
cables, but it can't be used easily with large (say,
half-inch) cables and gets balky with conductors bigger
than about 14 gauge, both of which the Marinco plugs can
handle easily. |
