Fifteen
rounds of plumber's teflon tape held by a narrow band of
heatshrink tubing around the centre of the tape gives
even better resonance damping. Loud passages much
cleaner. |

Damping
can be overdone. I overdamped the output tubes on my
preamp and the sound became lifeless and dead. Damping
can be very good though. Try to find the balance of
reduced microphonics while retaining the zip and zing of
tubes! |
