Setup
If you have hardwood floors and speaker spikes, you may have tried the coin trick. However, I like to move my speakers in and out of their best listening position, and the spikes would invariably slip off of the little metal disks I'd purchased. After some thought, I decided to try acorn nuts, which I purchased for about 69 cents a piece at a local hardware store. They didn't work as well as I'd planned at first, continuing to slip a bit, but then I filled each with Fun-Tak (similar to Blu-Tak or poster putty), and now they slide very well while still coupling the speaker to my Pergo-style floor.

Use
Under speaker spikes.

Performance
Provides all the benefits of coupling a speaker to a hard surface while protecting the floor and allowing for speakers to be easily and conveniently moved.

Other
Cost: 69 cents a piece.
