Use a stepping stone (cement slab) as big as the width and length of the sub-woofer. Use either squash balls or something similar to put under all four corners under the cement slab.

Advisable to have either spikes or the same squash balls under the sub-woofer to isolate from the top of the cement slab or stepping stone.

This is for use with wooden floors. I have not tried this on carpeted floors but should work just as well.

The bass response is significantly cleaner. It is quite noticable how the boominess is gone and a clean bass response is accentuated.

Recently
found a relatively inexpensive and superior alternative
to the cement slab under the subwoofer.
I am now using Auralex Gamma platforms under both of my
subwoofers. They have materials that absorb and keep the
virbrations from transferring to the floor (in my case
hardwood floors). And the sound is quite improved. I was
told that the cement slabs actually could increase the
vibrations through the floor and after listening to the
new platform based sound, I agree it is significantly
superior. The platforms run approximately $49 each.
