Construction
Start with any plastic screw on lid from a coffee jar, mayonnaise jar etc. It should be about 3 to 4 inches in diamter and no larger than the typical record label. You cut out a hole exactly in the center with an awl or other hole maker, just a bit smaller than the spindle on your turntable. This way it holds by friction.
 
Setup
Clamp down by pressing on center of clamp at all points around the spindle

As above
 
Performance
It hold down the record and secures it to the platter and helps eliminate the transfer of airborne vibration. Also helps minimize record warps.
