Solder the following metallized polypropylene film capacitors in parallel with each other between AC neutral and ground, i.e., put one lead of each of the following 3 capacitors between the larger AC socket slot on the left and the round ground hole at bottom of your AC wall outlet: (1) 100 to 220 microfarad, (1) 10 microfarad and (1) .47 microfarad (all caps should be 100VDC or greater. No resistor is needed on this filter. It is easiest if you solder the leads to an AC plug purchased at Home Depot or the like. It is said that the capacitors are actually directional, so listen to them oriented one way, then the other before soldering them to the AC plug.

Put these filters in all circuits EXCEPT the one your stereo is in. Particularly important in circuits that have a refrigerator, TV, VCR, burglar system, lawn sprinklers, light dimmers, etc. Higher quality capacitors will do a more effective job and sound better than lower quality capacitors.

Plug in and listen! The effect is cumulative. The more capacitance, the better the effect. Keep making them piecemeal until you reach your limit on diminishing returns.

Most effective if you use digital gear, but works wonderfully on analog as well. I noticed immediate improvements in a quieter background, more dynamic slam, improved transparency. In fact, the music appeared louder with the filters in my AC lines! This is a fantastic improvement.

Source for capacitors: Call Solen in Canada for the 100-220 microfarad caps (450) 656-2759. A 100mf/250VDC is $17.69 and a 220mf/400VDC is $32.15. Call Madisound for the GE Series 41L, 10mf/400VDC for around $3.75 each - (608)831-3433. Call Mouser for the Xicon .47mf/630VDC for around $175 each - (800)346-6873. These are Magnan's recommendations. Try out your own!
