The best tube damping rings

Use
These particular tube damping rings are not made for this purpose, but sound better than the 3M elastomeric rings on the market (they cause some muddiness and darkening of midrange information). These are made from Teflon so are meant to withstand high temperatures.

Performance
Less "ringing" you never knew was there in the first place. Better transient response. More transparent sound.

Other
Source: McMaster-Carr (562)692-5911. Part number 9319K25 (size 115). They are $3.85 each. You can special order ones for your larger tubes - part number 9319K999 (special order, size 210). I don't know how much they are.
