Construction
There are two DACS per channel (AD 1862 Analog Devices) in the D 500. If you keep the two dacs per channel, you have to do a differential amplifier that go to output stage. I didn't like the sound of the ZD 2 system (system with two das per channel) It is also easy to design a single output stage. For converting current to voltage at the output of the DAC, I placed a 2K resistor to get voltage. After this resistor, you have to place a 22 kHz RC filter. After the filter, I designed a current source cathode follower made with a 6SN7. After this stage, I placed another 22 kHz RC filter to take out the garbage. The power supply for the cathode followers is tube rectified, there is also a tube regulators. All the caps in the supply are SOLEn poly caps.

Setup
The cathode follower and it's supply are placed in a separate box.

Performance
The D 500 was a very bad A/D sounding converter. With Battery modification, The sound is now HUMAN, analog like. spacious, detailed etc etc etc.

Other
You must be crazy to do things like that but after a lot of works, it is simply marvelous.
